- 2 months
- from kickoff to both app stores
The story
Kirkelyden is a church app for a Norwegian congregation. Members read the Bible, listen to music, follow the newsletter and take part in church activities. It replaced an existing app that was too buggy to keep.
The church gave us the Bible as a PDF. Turning it into a structured text you can navigate is where the project lived. We used AI tools to move fast, then checked the result by hand, because one wrong verse number or misplaced chapter would undermine the app for the people using it.
We handled parsing, development and publishing. The new app went from kickoff to the App Store and Google Play in 2 months.
“We have had a very positive experience working with the developer. They have demonstrated strong technical competence and have handled requested changes and adjustments throughout the project in a structured and efficient manner. Communication has been clear, and deliveries have met our expectations.”
What was hard, and how we solved it
Problem
Unreliable legacy app
The church already had an app, but it was buggy and unstable enough that members stopped relying on it.
Bible locked in a PDF
Scripture existed only as a single large PDF, with no way to navigate by chapter, verse, or search.
Scattered church life
Music, newsletters, and event information lived in separate places, so members had no single point of reference.

Solution
Rebuilt from scratch
A new app, published to both stores in two months and stable in daily use.
Algorithmic Bible parsing
We structured the full PDF into chapters and verses, with manual verification so no verse number or chapter is misplaced.
One app, full access
Bible reading with saved progress, background audio playback, newsletters, and events, all managed through a custom admin panel.
