The story
DomaTV streams TV channels, shows, films and radio on mobile and on the web. The founder had the idea and needed the whole product designed, built and run, on both mobile and web.
Two things had to hold. The code had to be shared between mobile and web from day one, so the client never paid for the same product twice. And when usage passed 10,000 people a month, we had to rework performance and hosting underneath a live service without taking it down.
It started as a small first version and grew over a partnership of more than two years, with the client focused on content while we ran all the technology. DomaTV reached more than 35,000 monthly active users. Our collaboration ended in 2022, and the platform is still running.
“Different monetization strategies, reliable back-end and crack-secured mobile app is the reason why I was working with them for more than 2 years. Glad we've made it that far! Thanks a lot for your top work!”
What was hard, and how we solved it
Problem
2 platforms, 1 budget
Building separately for mobile and for the web doubles the spend before there is any audience to justify it.
Growth breaks things
What holds up comfortably at a thousand users starts falling over at ten thousand.
MVP or foundation
Build an MVP the quick way and the rewrite arrives exactly when the product starts working.

Solution
One reusable core
Mobile and web were built on a shared core from day one, so each new surface cost a fraction.
Reworked under load
When monthly users passed ten thousand, performance and hosting were reworked with no downtime.
Built to grow into
The MVP architecture carried the product from first launch to 35,000 monthly users without a rebuild.
