Client Problem
Two months before a planned launch, KidNation asks for “quick modifications.”
After a technical audit, we conclude the current app cannot scale or meet the deadline: architecture is incomplete and risky for growth. At the same time, the product goals are ambitious—AI-assisted content upload, links between in-app content and videogames, rich media, and an AI Storybook Generator. Branding must stay intact.

Our Solution
Creating a mobile application with a fresh, scalable architecture and an AI integration layer that abstracts provider APIs. This lets us swap models/services mid-project without breaking features or changing scope.
Another important technical aspect is the Storyteller engine. It must enforce character memory and narrative structure so the hero and villain remain consistent as the story unfolds.
For media we should implement a high-performance playback with picture-in-picture, background audio, and reliable caching, tuned for low jank and quick resume.
For design continuity, we adapt existing branding and screens: legacy Adobe XD + old app assets are migrated to a Figma component system that maps 1:1 to development.

How we made it work
1. Analysis
We ran a rapid audit and concluded the legacy app couldn’t scale or meet the two-month launch window. We mapped risks, drafted acceptance criteria, and proposed a clean rebuild with a modular architecture. A flowchart and rough prototype aligned the plan with stakeholders; our co-founder served as the direct point of contact with CEO Sandy Lal.
2. UI/UX Design
We kept the KidNation brand and adapted Adobe XD + legacy screens into a Figma design system. Components mapped 1:1 to development, accessibility was tightened for kids/parents, and story-centric flows were clarified. The deliverables were a dev-ready file and a clickable prototype that de-risked scope before coding.
3. MVP Development
A focused team shipped the new mobile app with high-performance media and analytics. We implemented an AI adapter layer so providers/models could change without rework, and built the Storyteller engine to keep hero vs. villain identities consistent across pages. Game/content hooks were added for future integrations, and weekly demos kept everyone aligned.
4. Cost Optimization
We separated concerns (services, queues, CDN media pipeline) and cached aggressively for smooth playback at lower cloud cost. The provider-agnostic AI layer absorbed mid-project API changes with no extra charges. Shared libraries and CI/CD shortened cycle time and reduced maintenance.
5. Support
We ran device and media edge-case testing to validate usability and safety. Store compliance (privacy/permissions/background audio) was prepared under NDA. The app moved into internal testing with strong early results, and we provided ongoing support toward launch.
